Political Subdivision and Land Area

Per official records of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Municipality of Manolo Fortich has a total land area of 42,556.04 hectares. This figure is 20 percent lower than the figure declared by the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) of 53,350 hectares and has been correspondingly used for any planning purposes.


Solid Waste Management

Solid waste refers to all discarded waste material from household, trade, commercial, industrial and mining activities. It includes agricultural waste, construction debris, sludge from non-hazardous and non-toxic waste matter. In compliance to R.A. 9003 otherwise known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act, the local government has established a five (5) hectare Controlled Dumpsite at Barangay Alae of this municipality. At present, due to the rise of volume of waste disposal in the dumpsite, there is a need to establish a Sanitary Landfill.


As of December 2010, Manolo Fortich’s road network has expanded to 624.54 kms, of these roads, a total of 38 kms.  were built by the national government,13.80 kms maintained by the municipal government, 78.06kms by the provincial government and 494.68 are identified as barangay roads.


Manolo Fortich has an agriculture and service driven economy. The agriculture sector employs the bulk of the municipality’s labor force, accounting for 64.14% of the total. The tertiary sector in terms of economy structure (Wholesale/Retail Trade, Transportation, and etc. ; at 16.24%).The secondary sector which accounted the least percentage of total among its sector is further broken down into manufacturing, (3.9%), Construction (4.7%), mining/quarry trade (1.28%),electricity, gas and water (0.93%).
