Manolo Fortich Prepares for Pablo
Members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) particularly those inherent to the Local Government are asked today to be present and be on standby to respond and assist in any situation that may arise from the approaching typhoon “Pablo”.
As early as yesterday afternoon, Manolo Fortich Municipal Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño signed Executive Order no.66 declaring no classes at all levels for the entire municipality. In the morning, he also called for a meeting at the municipal hall with the (MDRRMC). This is to make all members aware of the dangers of the “Pablo” which has an international name of “Bopha”, and review the municipality’s flood plan. He also reminded barangays to be vigilant, conduct pre-emptive evacuation if necessary, always be in touch with the town’s Respond Quickly Rescue Team(RQRT) as Command Center in the management of disaster and to report every hour on the situation of their respective barangays.
The main concern of the MDRRMC is the safety of the people living in flood and landslide prone areas. These are few sitios near the rivers traversing the municipality in particularly barangays Dalirig, Sto. Niño, Maluko, Agusan Canyon, Lingi-on , Lunocan, Damilag and Dicklum. Some of these barangays already experience rise in water level in last years’ tropical storm “Sendong” which resulted in damage of properties, livestock and crops.
Intermittent rain has started as early as 3 o’clock in the morning and only a few public utility vehicles decided to ply around the municipality today as major companies here declare no work.
